Reece Oxford
During the weekend Southgate had scouts looking over Reece Oxford performance For FC Augsburg who was playing against Bayern Munich. On accounts it was said he put in a good shift in having to put the shackles on Lewandowski (arguably the best centre forward in Europe & Golden boot winner ), in the end beating the Bundesliga current leaders.

No doubt Southgate would now believe Oxford could be a alternative to Harry Maguire. He was once labelled as the next Rio - and was the second youngest hammer to play in the Premiership In yet we sold off for a mire £2 Million.

Damn it we would certainly need him now!

'No they are not even in the relegation zone.'

Indeed. But until that freak result against Bayern last week, they were rock bottom. And the BL only has two relegation places. They are third from bottom.

And Payet was on the pitch, who over the course of that season, made literally every other player look far better than they were.

Hopefully one day we can get over this myth that Oxford in any way "bossed" thr game against arsenal. He was vaguely competent at best. Which is decent praise for a 16 year old, but not for someone who isnt a child.

In terms of build up play, we purposely avoided giving him the ball. He looked pretty terrified the rare times he did get foot to leather, and passed it 5 yards sharpish.

He was a training cone in a good team performance and a poor arsenal one.

No they are not even in the relegation zone. Beside the likes of Tarkowski has bèen sort after by our manager but Burnley are in the relegation zone. Adding to that Ramsdale experienced THREE relegations in his career but was still sort after by many club before he signed for the Arse!

We definitely need more centre backs from clubs at the very bottom of the Bundesliga.

Let's not forget the likes of Salah and De Bruyne. Needed to go away and find a club that they could play at.

How does that work? We have first option to buy him at market price, before he can be sold elsewhere?

We have a buy back clause

Re: Reece Oxford
I have not tried to map his career, no one can do that, one unfortunate injury can ruin that.

I hope I am wrong I just wish he had stayed or was allowed to stay at West Ham longer and all that promise come to fruition!

Re: Reece Oxford
I dont think he was overhyped. You dont play how he did on his debut at 16 and not have what it takes.

Yes it got to his head but harsh to compare him to Ravel Morrison.

Done the right thing to move and i'm sure he will be moving to a bigger club in the near future.

Wont be too difficult to take Mings spot in the squad or Maguire at this rate.

Why the fuck do people keep looking back? I don’t get it.

Move on - look forward.

Re: Reece Oxford
That's the thing though innit? You and the media had mapped out a 16 year old's whole career based on one single game. The reality is that he'll probably have a solid career at the top level, and that isn't a waste of talent at all.

It's only my opinion. Over hyped or not given the talent and the physique God blessed him with he should be at a better club than FC Augsburg. I remember that performance against Arsenal in 2015 and he ran the midfield. It was men against the boy! The world could have been his Oyster. It still maybe who know's?

Re: Reece Oxford
Lato, that's an absurd comparison. He's a first choice centre back at a German top division club at 22. How is that wasting your talent the way Ravel did?

He was massively overhyped at 16 and it went to his head a bit. A better comparison would probably be with Rice, who's only about 4 weeks younger, but was allowed to develop quietly at his own pace, and while it was considered that he would likely end up a very good player, he wasn't lauded as the next Rio or anything like that, the way Oxford was.

I can't believe he is only 22 he seems to have been around for donkey's years. Another complete and utter waste of talent like Ravel Morrison.

Re: Reece Oxford
Stumbled across an Augsburg match away at Mainz a few weeks ago. Mainz won 4-1. Oxford looked fairly average and prone to switching off. Looks like he is playing at his level at the wrong end of the Bundesliga

Re: Reece Oxford
I don't watch much German football but I did watch the Berlin derby this weekend in an attempt to see if this Niklas Stark that we are linked with is any good (CB for Hertha Berlin). Stark is supposed to be highly rated but he and the whole Hertha defence were pretty shocking.. on that evidence we Tarkowski or Mee would be a much better bet.

It was a midtable match and just one game but I thought the standard of football being played was well below the PL.

I can't imaging that Reece Oxford would be a better bet for England than a good CB playing in the PL.

Support was excellent though!

Mattie, the watch was found in Bobby Moores locker.

Remember hearing that him having his watch stolen was part of a plan to help force him out. What ever happened about that watch?
